Job summary

RiseMe in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Credit Underwriter to support the loan approval and closing process. You will work with Sales Officers, Credit Administration, and Processing teams to assemble comprehensive loan packages and memos.

You will gather borrower information, analyze credit, and help ensure timely closing. A Finance/Accounting background and experience with credit analysis are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, but a related field will be considered.
• Proficient in Credit Analyst functions.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and prepares credit memos for committee-level loan facilities or relationships.
• Collaborates with Sales Officers, Portfolio Manager I, and credit analyst to finalize loan packages for loan committee.
• Adds detailed information about the loan request, banking relationship, borrower background, and Sales Officer comments to produce a complete loan approval memo.
• Assists Credit Analysts and Commercial Processors in gathering information and documents needed to complete their functions.
• Aids Sales Officers with covenant tracking and documentation on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
• Monitors approved requests and assists in document preparation and closing processes.

General Summary

This position is a vital function in the consumer and commercial loan approval and closing process. The Credit Underwriter works in conjunction with Sales Officers, Credit Administration, and the Loan Processing Department for preparing and documenting loan approval packages.

Essential Functions

• Focuses on the underwriting and preparation of credit memos for committee level loan facilities or relationships, but available to work on all loan requests as needed
• Works closely with the Sales Officers, Portfolio Manager I, and credit analyst to finalize loan packages for loan committee.
• Supplements the work of the Credit Analyst with detailed information about the loan request, banking relationship, background of the borrower, and comments by the Sales Officer to produce a complete loan approval memo.
• Assists the Credit Analysts and Commercial Processors in acquiring the information and documents they need to complete their functions.
• Aids Sales Officers with monthly, quarterly or annual covenant tracking and documentation.
• Monitors the request after it has been approved and assists the Commercial Processor through the document preparation and closing process.
• Occasionally will be responsible for entering consumer and commercial requests in the Bank’s consumer and commercial underwriting software.

Working Conditions

• Generally good, with little exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, dust or other adverse factors
• Considerable effort and eyestrain from continued review of loan files and documents to conduct comprehensive analyses
• Limited travel within the Bank Independent network required.

Minimum Level of Preparation and Training

• Bachelor of Science degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, but a degree in a related or applicable field will be considered
• Proficient in functions of a Credit Analyst
