Barclays in Whippany, NJ is seeking a Credit Risk Specialist‑SRE to monitor and maintain core technology infrastructure and resolve complex issues with minimal disruption. The role emphasizes reliability, observability, and proactive automation in an investment banking environment.

The position offers a base salary range of $115,000–$160,000 and a benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance. This is a full‑time on‑site opportunity in New Jersey.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL, databases, Unix and Windows in the Investment Banking domain.
  • Experience with ITIL concepts andCM tools and reporting (ServiceFirst/SNOW).
  • Experience in batch monitoring with Autosys.
  • Ability to own and drive end-to-end reliability improvements.
  • Familiarity with observability strategy including alert quality and early-warning design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for service management to resolve complex issues for clients.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on hardware and software and use monitoring metrics to ensure performance.
  • Maintain knowledge base of resolved cases for self-service and sharing.
  • Analyze system logs and apply fixes or configuration changes to resolve issues.
  • Drive automation, monitoring improvements, capacity management and resiliency.
  • Identify and remediate risks and issues, elevating where needed.
  • Tune monitoring tools and alerts to improve proactive issue detection.

To be successful as a Credit Risk Specialist‑SRE, you should have experience with:

  • Technical experience with high proficiency in SQL, Database Technologies, Unix, Windows primarily in Investment Banking domain

  • Experience with ITIL concepts and best practices. Experience of using configuration management tools and reporting such as Service First/SNOW

  • Experience in batch monitoring tools such as Autosys

  • Ability to own and drive reliability improvements end‑to‑end, from problem ingestion through engineering remediation and sustained stability improvements

  • Deep familiarity with observability strategy—not just tooling—including alert quality, signal hygiene, and early‑warning design

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Good understanding of ITIL methodologies as applicable to application management function

  • Project management skills

  • Understands follow-the-sun model, experience in working with India and offshore teams

Minimum Salary: $115,000

Maximum Salary: $160,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To effectively monitor and maintain the bank’s critical technology infrastructure and resolve more complex technical issues, whilst minimising disruption to operations.

Accountabilities
  • Provision of technical support for the service management function to resolve more complex issues for a specific client of group of clients. Develop the support model and service offering to improve the service to customers and stakeholders.
  • Execution of preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and utilisation of monitoring tools/metrics to identify, prevent and address potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintenance of a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self-service opportunities and knowledge sharing.
  • Analysis of system logs, error messages and user reports to identify the root causes of hardware, software and network issues, and providing a resolution to these issues by fixing or replacing faulty hardware components, reinstalling software, or applying configuration changes.
  • Automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front office specific support and stakeholder management.
  • Identification and remediation or raising, through appropriate process, of potential service impacting risks and issues.
  • Proactively assess support activities implementing automations where appropriate to maintain stability and drive efficiency. Actively tune monitoring tools, thresholds, and alerting to ensure issues are known when they occur.
