Job summary

Valley National Bank is seeking a Portfolio Credit Manager to oversee portfolio monitoring, reporting, and covenant compliance in collaboration with the business team. The role involves due diligence, underwriting, and preparation of credit presentations for approval discussions.

The candidate will validate financial reports, assess collateral, and support quarterly portfolio analysis and client meetings. Experience in credit analytic methods is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains oversight via internal reporting and dashboards of all ongoing portfolio monitoring requirements and client deliverables as well as compliance with all terms of the loan agreement including (i) financial reporting, (ii) covenant compliance, (iii) collateral monitoring, (iv) required third party reports, (v) annual reviews, and (vi) maturing loans and lines of credit.
  • In coordination with the business team, coordinates client follow up as needed for account monitoring and administration.
  • Validates and analyzes reports such as financial statements, borrowing base certificates, collateral field examinations, appraisals, engineering reports, etc. to verify compliance.
  • Completes financial statement spreads and cash flow analysis, performs collateral analysis, and conducts research on industries/markets.
  • Escalates issues to appropriate levels and develops action plans as necessary.
  • Ensures credits are accurately risk rated and are properly monitored and reported.
  • Collaborates on preparation of all required quarterly reports and analysis including Criticized Loan Monitoring Reports as well as other portfolio management reports as required.
  • Underwrites new prospective transactions as well as renewals, extensions, increases, and material modifications and amendments for existing clients.
  • Participates in external client meetings as well as internal deal team discussions and approval discussions with senior management.
  • Performs the required due diligence and analysis, produces the credit presentation in accordance with guidelines and policy while ensuring timely completion of the underwriting, and presents credit requests to the required level of credit authority.
  • Participates in special projects and requests related to the management of the portfolio.
