Job summary

Elevance Health is seeking a Senior Credit & Collections Specialist to manage complex collection activities related to past due premiums and health insurance claims across our portfolio.

You will follow established guidelines, research debt validity, generate demand letters, and prepare reports reflecting the status of collections for management review, while ensuring accurate documentation in payer systems such as NextGen and Waystar.

Qualifications

• Requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of commercial debt collection experience.
• Experience with NextGen and Waystar systems.
• Experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance accounts.
• Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management and payer reimbursement processes.

Virtual: This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, except for required in-person training sessions, providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. This approach promotes productivity, supports work-life integration, and ensures essential face-to‑face onboarding and skill development. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of commercial debt collection experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• Experience with NextGen and Waystar systems.
• Experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance accounts.
• Proven background in commercial insurance collections, claims follow-up, and denial resolution.
• Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle management and payer reimbursement processes.

Location and Work Arrangement

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week.
