Job summary

Berlin Packaging is seeking a Credit Analyst to manage credit and collections, review credit data, and support risk management across multiple business units in a hybrid work environment.

You will monitor aging, coordinate with sales and operations, approve credit limits up to $500K, and help improve credit processes while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or finance or the equivalent experience.
• Five to seven years of commercial credit and collection experience.
• Basic accounting knowledge.
• Follow-up skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and possesses a high sense of urgency.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a group setting with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong business judgment and knowledge of credit and collection tools and techniques.
• Ability to effectively communicate to all audiences.
• Ability and desire to motivate team members whether a direct report or not.

Responsibilities

• Manage credit and collection activities for portfolio, including reviewing credit data and approving limits up to $500K.
• Ensure payment terms compliance, resolve disputes, and reconcile accounts using aging reports.
• Contact delinquent customers and coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues.
• Monitor financial risk and report action plans to management.
• Prepare and follow payment schedules for extended plans.
• Validate orders placed on ERP hold.
• Maintain credit exposure within approved limits.
• Build and strengthen relationships with customers.
• Assist manager with credit training sessions.
• Prepare monthly past-due reports and other required reports.
• Negotiate in complex customer situations with manager support.
• Recommend and implement credit/operational processes for improvements.
• Provide accurate customer trade references.
• Promote sales growth while protecting cash collections.
• Meet KPI goals including DSO, % current, Bad Debt, and cash collections.
• Other duties assigned by manager.

The Credit Analyst is responsible for managing the company’s financial risk of extending credit for specific business units and promote strong cash collections by properly enforcing customers payment terms.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage credit and collection activities for portfolio of business unit(s) including processing new credit applications by reviewing credit data and approving credit limits for new and existing customers up to $500K.
• Ensure compliance of payment terms, timely dispute resolution, and perform account reconciliation by reviewing aging reports weekly. Schedule frequent communication with sales and operations to coordinate plan for corrective action.
• Address delinquent payments by contacting customers and work with internal business partners to resolve customer issues where necessary.
• Monitor for signs of financial problems and report to immediate manager an action plan to mitigate risk.
• Prepare and follow through payment schedules for customers who need temporary extended payment plans.
• Validate orders, which are placed on hold by ERP at the time of order entry.
• Ensure credit exposure for ongoing customers are maintained within their approved limits.
• Build new and strengthen existing relationships with customers, both internal and external.
• Assist immediate manager in presenting credit related training sessions.
• Prepare monthly reports of past due accounts and other various reports as required.
• Effectively negotiate in complex customer situations with assistance from immediate manager.
• Recommend and implement credit and operational processes & procedures for continuous improvements by collaborating with various departments including leveraging technology where appropriate.
• Provide accurate customer trade references.
• Promote sales growth by using discretion and professional judgement to prevent credit & collection efforts from adversely affecting customer relations.
• Fulfill employee portion of the “Berlin T-Chart”.
• Meet or exceed individual KPI goals with which include, but not limited to DSO, % current, Bad Debt Expense, and Cash Collections
• Other duties assigned by manager.

Work in a fast-paced office environment. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in office and two days remote. Limited travel required.

Pay Range

$75,000 - $85,000 USD
