Job summary

Mercy is seeking a detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to verify and coordinate credentialing for thousands of practitioner files across timeframes and regulatory standards. You will prepare and send applications, gather information, and communicate with applicants to complete the process.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree or relevant data entry/credentialing experience, with CPCS and/or CPMSM certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; can substitute with relevant experience.
  • Experience in credentialing or database entry preferred.
  • Detail oriented with ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • CPCS and/or CPMSM certifications preferred; must be earned within two years of eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate verification of thousands of practitioner files within required timeframes.
  • Prepare and send credentialing applications; gather information and communicate with applicants to complete processing.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards across Mercy networks.

Job description

Coordinates accurate verification of approximately 8,000 practitioner files forinitial appointment and reappointment within established time frames and in accordance with the standardsrequired by the accrediting/regulatory agencies for all Mercy Network, Mercy Clinic and Mercy Hospitals. This includes preparing and sending applications, gathering, entering and verifyinginformation received in the application process and communicating verbally and written with applicants as necessary to complete their application.

Specialist must be detail oriented and have ability to understand complex credentialingrequirements needed by facility and variances for credentialing in multiple states. Must be deadline driven and can easily adapt to expedited requests. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Education: Bachelors degree or previous data entry or credentialingexperience may be substituted for education. Experience: Previous credentialing or database entry experience preferred. Applicant must be detail oriented and able to work in a demanding and fast paced work environment. Analytical experience preferred. Certifications: Valid certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services management (CPMSM) preferred. Certification must be passed within two years of becoming eligible for exam.

Other:

Detail oriented. Able to easily adapt to change. Self-starter. Position requires long hours sitting at a computer. Some travel is required. Position requires flexible hours outside of the normal work day.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
