Job summary

Ovadia Interior Design and Architecture in Manhattan seeks a Design Director to own the creative vision and lead the team of designers and interior architects. You will set the aesthetic direction, approve concepts and finishes, and mentor staff toward excellence.

You will guide design across interior design and architecture, lead client presentations, and ensure projects move from concept to installation on time and on budget. This is a senior leadership role in a boutique, award‑winning studio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in high-end residential interior design or interior architecture (NYC experience preferred).
• 5+ years leading a team of five or more designers or architects.
• Fluency in residential design documentation from schematic to construction documents.
• Mastery-level knowledge of interior architecture, custom millwork, lighting, finishes, and FF&E specification.

Responsibilities

• Set and protect the design point of view for the studio across projects.
• Lead design reviews, client presentations, and material selections.
• Mentor Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Designers and interior architects.
• Oversee project delivery, budgets, contracts, and schedules.
• Review construction documents for constructability and coordination.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and Project Management on procurement and installation planning.
• Support construction administration and resolve field issues.
• Lead and participate in hiring and staff development.
