BALANCE eating disorder treatment center seeks a Creative Art Therapist to join our growing team in New York. The role centers on using art-making within counseling to support clients’ mental, physical, and emotional health across ages.
The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Art Therapy with at least five years of related experience and is comfortable conducting individual and group sessions, documenting treatment, and coordinating with the care team. On-call duties are required.
The Creative Art Therapist is is passionate about eating disorder prevention and intervention. Dedicated to
helping clients of all ages at BALANCE with their mental, physical, and emotional health by
incorporating art making into client’s counseling sessions.
Conducts individual sessions
Builds rapport with clients while conducting art therapy. Observes and documents client
reactions, progress, or other outcomes related to the artistic process
Confers with other professionals on client’s treatment team to develop, coordinate, or
integrate treatment plans
Designs art therapy sessions or programs in consultation with clients or site administrators to meet client’s goals and objectives. Gathers client information from sources such as case documentation, client observation, or interviews of client or family
members
Utilizes supervisory feedback to improve performance
Be on-call several nights a week, on a rotating basis
Performs other duties as assigned
Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related discipline and five years of related experience
required
