Job summary

Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (VPG) seeks a Crating Specialist in Poestenkill, NY to read and interpret assembly prints and packaging specifications, then construct shipping crates and prepare Gleeble systems for domestic and international shipments.

You will operate carpentry and power tools, perform mechanical assembly, and assist with finishing, labeling, and final presentation of equipment. The role supports maintenance and safe, efficient operations on site.

Qualifications

• Academic/Professional Education: High school or GED.
• Military experience a plus.
• Relevant Experience: 3-5 years hands on experience.
• Technical Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of mechanical assembly drawings, ability to work with numerous specialized hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and packaging specifications to construct shipping crates and prepare Gleeble systems and related equipment for domestic and international shipment. Operate carpentry tools, power tools, and material handling equipment as required.
• Perform mechanical assembly of Gleeble subassemblies, fixtures, and related equipment by following engineering drawings, assembly procedures, and work instructions. Support production activities as needed to meet delivery schedules.
• Perform finishing operations including surface preparation, painting, touch-up, cleaning, labeling, and final presentation of equipment and components prior to shipment.
• Support facility maintenance and improvement projects including painting, repairs, workspace organization, crating area maintenance, and other activities that contribute to a safe, efficient, and professional work environment.
• Perform other duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned to support business objectives, customer requirements, production demands, and operational needs.
