Job summary

WFA Staffing Group in Wisconsin is seeking a Crate Builder to design, measure, cut, and assemble wooden crates, pallets, and containers using hand and power tools, following blueprints and customer specs.

This role requires strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate nail guns, saws, and forklifts. On 1st and 2nd shifts, you will work with production teams to ensure items are properly packed and shipped safely.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Forklift certification is often a plus.
  • Familiarity with hazardous material regulations (for specific roles).

Responsibilities

  • Assemble crates and ensure proper bracing and blocking for shock and vibration protection.
  • Prepare and apply cushioning, foam, and inner packing materials to secure items for shipment.
  • Apply appropriate handling, destination, and hazard markings and ensure compliance with packaging standards.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, nail guns, saws, and other equipment like banders and forklifts.
  • Maintain a clean and OSHA-compliant work environment, perform safety inspections, and report equipment issues.
  • Work with logistics and quality assurance teams to meet shipping deadlines and fulfill customer requirements.
  • Measure, cut, and construct wooden crates, pallets, and custom containers using various wood and plywood materials.

Job Description

A Crate Builder designs, measures, cuts, and assembles custom wooden crates, pallets, and containers using hand and power tools according to specific blueprints, schematics, or customer specifications. This role requires strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, the ability to operate machinery like nail guns and forklifts, and a commitment to workplace safety and organization to ensure items are properly protected and ready for shipping. These positions are on 1st and 2nd shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembly: Assemble crates and ensure proper bracing and blocking for shock and vibration protection.
  • Material Preparation: Prepare and apply cushioning, foam, and inner packing materials to secure items for shipment.
  • Documentation & Labeling: Apply appropriate handling, destination, and hazard markings and ensure compliance with packaging standards.
  • Tool Operation: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, nail guns, saws, and other equipment like banders and forklifts.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and OSHA-compliant work environment, perform safety inspections, and report equipment issues.
  • Collaboration: Work with logistics and quality assurance teams to meet shipping deadlines and fulfill customer requirements.
