Job Description

As a member of the critical infrastructure team, you will help design, build, activate and maintain some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. You will operate with autonomy to solve diverse and complex problems, manage multiple projects, and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a crane technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all crane assets across campus.

Responsibilities
  • Support facilities crane and elevator operations to ensure zero unplanned service interruptions.
  • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot various fixed cranes (bridge, gantry, jib).
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting, scheduling, and scope of work enforcement for crane and elevator services.
  • Understand control circuitry, wiring, and install radio control systems and variable frequency drives.
  • Track and resolve electronic work tickets on SpaceX’s custom work order system.
  • Consult with engineering and construction teams for crane system requirements.
  • Prioritize tasks to improve department efficiency and eliminate blockers.
  • Maintain high safety standards and promote a culture of safety excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes for crane and elevator operations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of crane technician experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Certifications such as PMP, BOC Level I or II, or CFM/FMP.
  • Experience with bridge and gantry cranes and modification of crane parts.
  • Knowledge of welding operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and utilize shop equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilities.
Additional Requirements
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical activities and emergencies.
  • Relocation to Hawthorne, CA if not local.
  • Extended hours, including weekends, when necessary.
  • Work in confined and hazardous environments with PPE.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand, crawl, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $42.00 - $52.00/hour (Level 4), $46.00 - $60.00/hour (Level 5). Actual salary based on experience and skills. Benefits include stock options, bonuses, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k), paid leave, and more.
