Job summary

Morgan Engineering is seeking a Crane Technician to join our Site Services team in the Houston, TX area. You will assemble, install, wire and commission industrial overhead cranes at customer sites across the U.S., perform preventive maintenance, and inspect and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.

Qualified candidates read blueprints, have at least 1 year in related industry, and showcase leadership and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read blueprints and use metrological instruments.
  • Experience or ability to perform mechanical/electrical inspections.
  • Strong organization and problem‑solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and work overtime as required.
  • Leadership and teamwork abilities for site work.

Job description

At Morgan, we partner with our customers to design and implement solutions for the world’s most complex material handling needs. We are currently looking for a Crane Technician to join our growing Morgan Site Services team in the Houston, Texas area.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, wire and commission Morgan industrial overhead cranes at customer sites across the U.S.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on overhead cranes.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems on overhead cranes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, as well as AC and DC electrical systems.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a related industry.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use metrological instruments such as micrometers.
  • Basic organization, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Skills in one or more of the following areas are preferred: Millwright work, iron work, pipefitting, electrical meters, basic machining, basic welding and rigging.
Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful passage of a background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to regularly move parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, and climb to heights which may exceed 150 ft.
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights and weekends as required by workload.
  • Willingness to observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
