Job summary

Nutrien is seeking a skilled crane operations technician to join our field teams. This role focuses on safety, rigging, crane setup, lift planning, and coordinating with maintenance and heavy equipment teams to move materials and components efficiently.

You will inspect rigging gear, perform lift audits, and assist in spill containment, ensuring compliance with procedures and certifications while supporting continuous operation in our facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of industry experience.
• Basic Rigging Certification is an asset.
• NCRC testing is required for all hourly applicants; must meet scores.
• NCCCO Certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures in elevated areas and with lifting equipment.
• Complete lift planning including calculating weights and charting crane capacity.
• Conduct crane setup, charting, and configuration per crane capacity.
• Prepare area for crane setup and coordinate with heavy equipment.
• Assist maintenance in installing new components by rigging and lifting.
• Inspect rigging equipment and document findings.
• Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanisms.
• Conduct Critical Lift Audits and ensure compliance.
• Set up braces and rigging hoisting equipment.
• Coordinate pre-lift job plans using range finders and load charts.
• Approve contracted lift plans by inspecting equipment and certifications.
• Assist in spill containment and relocate contaminated soil.
