Job summary

Logistec in Houston is seeking a Crane Operator to safely load and unload cargo from railcars and trucks within the terminal operations. You will operate cranes, follow safety procedures, and work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.

The role requires experience with friction cranes, daily safety checks, and reading crane charts and signals. TWIC is required; NCCCO/NCCER certification is preferred but not mandatory, and you will contribute to efficient cargo movement in all weather

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of (2) two years of marine industry related experience operating crane equipment.
  • Must have (1) one year experience operating heavy equipment such as the 9K, 30K or 52K forklift.
  • Must have advance knowledge understanding flagging signals used in cargo handling.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Basic English.
  • Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Must adhere to safety protocol and work in a drug-free environment.
  • TWIC required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate friction 3900/4000/4100 class cranes and lattice booms to lift and move materials, machines, containers, or cargo in a waterfront setting.
  • Manipulate and depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of the crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.
  • Completing daily and weekly inspection and maintenance reports
  • Lift position and place machinery, equipment, containers and cargo as directed.
  • Properly set-up crane mats and outriggers prior to start of operations.
  • Must know instrument and control panels.
  • Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower load line.
  • Read and understand crane charts.
  • Operate crane according to signals of Flagman.
  • Follow directions of supervision carefully.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires working in all types of weather.
  • NCCCO NCCER Certification preferred, not required.
