Job summary

Commercial Metals in Mesa, AZ, seeks a safety-focused Ladle Crane Operator to operate a remote-controlled overhead crane for moving steel and ladles in the melt shop. Training will be provided; steel industry experience is not required. Ability to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays, is needed.

Responsibilities

• Remove, install and adjust electrode columns at EAF and ladle furnaces.
• Communicate production issues and needs with team.
• Ensure daily equipment inspection reports are completed.
• Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures.
• Maintain daily housekeeping in work area.
• Troubleshoot problems using knowledge and teamwork.
• Communicate potential production issues and needs clearly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a safety-focused and reliable Ladle Crane Operator to join our steel manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating a remote-controlled overhead crane to safely transport steel, ladles, and other materials throughout the melt shop. Operators will receive training on specific equipment and processes. Previous steel industry experience is not required.

What You'll Do

• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Transport full ladles of liquid metal from the ladle furnace to the caster turret
• Remove, install, and add to electrode columns both at the EAF and ladle furnaces
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Communicate effectively about potential production issues, concerns, and operational needs
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
