Job summary

Omega Foundation Services, Inc. seeks an experienced Crane Operator to support heavy civil and deep foundation construction projects in the field.

You will safely operate crawler and hydraulic cranes, follow lift plans, and coordinate with the foundation crew to ensure productive, safe operations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging and signaling, and a commitment to safety on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating cranes on heavy civil or deep foundation projects.
• Ability to safely operate the specific crane(s) assigned to the project.
• NCCCO certification or other applicable crane operator certification.
• Strong understanding of crane load charts, lifting procedures, rigging, and signaling.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and other assigned lifting equipment.
• Perform crane operations associated with deep foundation construction, including driven pile installation, steel and concrete pile handling, sheet pile installation, drilled shaft operations, casing installation and extraction, rebar cage lifting and placement, concrete bucket and tremie operations, and other foundation tasks.
• Follow lift plans, load charts, manufacturer requirements, and company safety procedures.
• Inspect cranes, wire rope, hooks, rigging, safety devices, and other equipment before operation.
• Work closely with the Superintendent, Foreman, Pile Foreman, Rigging Crew, Signal Person, and others on the foundation crew.

Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Crane Operator to support heavy civil and deep foundation construction projects. The Crane Operator will safely and efficiently operate crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and other heavy lifting equipment used in pile driving, drilled shafts, casing installation, rebar cage placement, concrete placement, and other deep foundation operations.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging and signaling, understands deep foundation construction, and is committed to maintaining a safe and productive jobsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and other assigned lifting equipment.
• Perform crane operations associated with deep foundation construction, including:
  • Driven pile installation
  • Steel and concrete pile handling
  • Sheet pile installation
  • Drilled shaft operations
  • Casing installation and extraction
  • Rebar cage lifting and placement
  • Concrete bucket and tremie operations
  • Auger, oscillator, and other foundation equipment support
• Follow lift plans, load charts, manufacturer requirements, and company safety procedures.
• Inspect cranes, wire rope, hooks, rigging, safety devices, and other equipment before operation.
• Work closely with the Superintendent, Foreman, Pile Foreman, Rigging Crew, Signal Person, and other members of the foundation crew.
• Safely position and lift heavy materials and equipment in accordance with site conditions and approved lift plans.
• Maintain clear communication with signal persons and ground personnel.
• Monitor crane capacity, ground conditions, swing radius, overhead hazards, power lines, and other jobsite hazards.
• Assist with equipment setup, mobilization, demobilization, and daily maintenance.
• Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses immediately.
• Maintain accurate daily equipment and production records as required.
• Follow OSHA regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Perform other duties related to deep foundation operations as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating cranes on heavy civil, pile driving, or deep foundation projects.
• Ability to safely operate the specific crane(s) assigned to the project.
• NCCCO certification or other applicable crane operator certification preferred/required as applicable.
• Strong understanding of crane load charts, lifting procedures, rigging, and signaling.
• Experience working around pile driving, drilled shafts, casing, concrete, and other foundation equipment preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow lift plans and written instructions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel to project locations when required.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to climb onto and access heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to work around heavy machinery, noise, vibration, dust, and changing weather conditions.
• Ability to perform occasional physical tasks associated with equipment inspection and jobsite operations.

Safety Expectations

Safety is a fundamental requirement of this position. The Crane Operator is expected to stop work when an unsafe condition exists, communicate hazards to supervision, participate in daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning, and consistently follow all applicable OSHA, manufacturer, and company requirements.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in deep foundation, pile driving, drilled shafts, bridge construction, marine construction, heavy civil construction, or large-scale commercial foundation projects are strongly encouraged to apply.
