Job summary

Noble Corporation is seeking an Offshore Roustabout to support drilling operations. The role involves directing Roustabouts, maintaining crane and rigging safety, and ensuring proper handling of freight and equipment during rig activity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6+ months experience as Roustabout or similar.
  • Experience supervising Roustabout crews offshore.
  • Completion of all training requirements within designated period.
  • Crane Operator Certificate and other listed certifications.
  • Knowledge of crane safety instructions and lifting equipment inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform duties during drilling, work-over or completion operations.
  • Direct and supervise Roustabouts to support rig operations.
  • Supervise upkeep of the paint locker.
  • Supervise crane-related housekeeping when cranes are not in use.
  • Inform Rig Manager before any equipment/weight move.
  • Assist in handling freight to or from helicopters and boats.
  • Maintain crane reports and weights for stability calculations.
  • Inspect and maintain hoisting equipment inventory.
  • Maintain records of weights and locations on/off vessel.

Job description

Operate Drillship/MODU cranes in support of drilling operations. Direct Roustabouts as necessary to support on-going rig operations. Assist in handling freight to or from helicopters and boats. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Marine Section Leader or designated representative during drilling, work over and completion operations. Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner, and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible person of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of experience as a Roustabout or comparable experience.
  • Experience supervising Roustabout crews and in offshore drilling operations.
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
  • Requires Crane Operator Certificate, Able Seaman Endorsement (If Drillship/MODU sea time accumulated to obtain USCG endorsement); Fast Rescue Boat Certificate; Basic and Advanced Fire Fighting Certificates; and HLO (Helicopter Landing Officer) Certificate.
  • Knowledge of crane and rigging safety instructions, and regulations and operational limits of cranes and associated lifting equipment. Must know how to inspect all of the crane's systems and equipment and associated rigging equipment. and have knowledge of the Company's paint specifications and procedures.
Essential Functions
OPERATIONS
  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Manager or designee during drilling, work-over or completion operations.
  • Direct and supervise Roustabouts during and the performance of their duties to support on-going rig operations.
  • Supervise the upkeep and maintenance of the paint locker.
  • Supervise housekeeping operations when cranes are not in use.
  • Inform the Rig Manager or Barge Engineer prior to any equipment/weight move.
  • Assist in handling freight to or from helicopters and boats.
  • Ensure that all bulk material hoses are extended and purged with boat's air system prior to use.
  • Maintain adequate fuel supply at all times.
  • Ensure correct hand signals are used for crane operations.
  • Record all heavy lifts and lifts contrary to manifest in the crane report.
  • Maintain daily time sheets for Roustabout personnel.
  • Responsible for rigging and moving of equipment and materials.
  • Maintain records of weights and their locations being on and off the vessel and submit to the Chief Mate for stability calculations.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all deck/equipment maintenance areas are kept clean and all tools are properly stored or racked in designated areas at all times.
  • Maintain the exterior of the hull, main deck, substructure and heliport.
  • Keep the areas clean and in good repair and free of grease, dirt, and safety hazards.
  • Inspect the cranes daily and lubricate as required by the maintenance manual and applicable code requirements, American Petroleum Institute (API), ABS and DNV.
  • Ensure cranes are kept clean.
  • Complete daily and weekly crane reports in a timely fashion and notify supervisor of any defects.
  • Inspect, maintain and keep a complete and up-to-date inventory of all slings, chains, ropes, shackles, and other hoisting equipment.
  • Maintain records on all maintenance and work done on the cranes.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
  • Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
  • Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
  • Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
  • Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
  • Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
  • Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
