Job summary

J. Irwin Company, Ltd. in Bastrop, Texas, is seeking a Crane Operator to operate crane equipment safely and efficiently on construction sites.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role reporting to the Foreman. You will conduct daily inspections, interpret load charts, coordinate with riggers, follow lift plans, and maintain equipment while upholding OSHA safety standards in varying weather. Applicants should have a high school diploma, NCCCO certification, and at least two years of crane

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience required.
  • Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience operating crane equipment in a construction environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of load charts and rigging procedures.
  • Attention to detail, initiative, and reliability required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate crane equipment to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Interpret load charts and verify load weights prior to lifting operations.
  • Coordinate lifting activities with signal persons, riggers, and crew members.
  • Follow site lift plans and operational procedures.
  • Maintain, clean and report equipment issues to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensure operation of crane equipment to the highest OSHA and safety standards.
  • Perform cleanup duties around work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Full Time

Reports to: Foreman

Job Purpose: Operate crane equipment safely, productively and efficiently to lift, move, position, and place construction materials and equipment at assigned locations to accomplish construction site objectives.

Job Duties:

  • Operate crane equipment to lift, move, position, and place materials and equipment.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Interpret load charts and verify load weights prior to lifting operations.
  • Coordinate lifting activities with signal persons, riggers, and crew members.
  • Follow site lift plans and operational procedures.
  • Maintain, clean and report equipment issues to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensure operation of crane equipment to the highest OSHA and safety standards.
  • Perform cleanup duties around work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, climb ladders, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must maintain constant visual and auditory awareness while operating equipment.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to extreme weather conditions. The work is performed outdoors on the jobsite where the employee will be exposed to extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment can be extreme on the jobsite.

Work Hours: Work hours are generally a regular work week of 40 hours; however, exact hours to work each day may vary as required.

Salary Information

$28 - $32Hourly Wage
