Delta Steel, Inc. seeks an experienced Crane/Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead cranes, hoists, and related equipment. You will follow safety standards and OSHA/compliance guidelines while keeping production downtime to a minimum.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing settings and strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical skills, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, fabrication, steel, or production environments.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, power transmission, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting with industrial controls and motor circuits.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment drawings.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance and using precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain overhead cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on cranes and production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Replace bearings, shafts, gears, brakes, motors, wire rope, chains, and other components.
  • Read blueprints and perform machining or fabrication as needed.
  • Respond to equipment failures and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

The Crane / Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of overhead cranes, hoists, and industrial production equipment. This position ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA and manufacturer standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills and is committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Job Function
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain overhead bridge cranes, gantry cranes, jib cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on cranes, industrial machinery, and facility equipment, including plasma tables, press brakes, and related production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Replace and service bearings, shafts, gears, brakes, motors, wire rope, chains, sheaves, couplings, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform machinery alignment and precision measurements using appropriate tools and instruments.
  • Lubricate, inspect, and service equipment according to established maintenance schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Inspect lifting devices and equipment for safe operation and report unsafe conditions.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and work orders using CMMS or other maintenance tracking systems.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and light machining as needed to support repairs and equipment reliability.
  • Assist with equipment installation, relocation, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Respond to equipment failures and emergency breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, productivity, and downtime reduction.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and other assigned duties.
Required Skills
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred in a manufacturing, fabrication, steel, or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience maintaining bearings, gearboxes, motors, conveyors, power transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge, including industrial controls and motor circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
  • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance and using precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, forklifts, aerial lifts, and related maintenance equipment.
  • Welding, fabrication, rigging, millwright, overhead crane maintenance, PLC troubleshooting, and CMMS experience are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
  • Valid driver's license required.
