Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer to support our field crews in Louisiana. The role involves preparing, handling, and supplying materials, loading and unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, and helping set and clean job sites.

A two-year apprenticeship is required, with construction experience preferred. You will work safely with tools, coordinate with trades, and contribute to delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a two-year apprenticeship.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered hand tools and equipment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding and staging; level ground.
• Tend mortar and grout; move materials between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• Clean site and manage debris; assist with concrete placement and vibration.

Job description

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must have completed a two (2) year apprenticeship
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
