Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Craft-Based Leadership Coordinator to manage the project's behavior-based ESH program, leveraging field observations and feedback from craft observers to strengthen safe work practices.

Reporting to the ESH Services Manager, you will design training, coach observers, lead committees, and drive continuous improvement across all project phases while collaborating with field leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social or Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Behavior Analysis or related discipline with 4+ years of relevant Behavior based safety experience.
• Associate's degree with 6+ years; OR 8+ years of relevant Behavior based experience in an industrial or construction setting.
• Ability to research, interpret, and apply organizational requirements for Craft Based Leadership program and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and coaching in the field and in committees with craft and staff professionals.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and sustain the CBL program to align with project culture, work scope, and craft capabilities.
• Design and execute a CBL training strategy for craft, field supervision, and project leadership.
• Train and coach CBL observers on program expectations, quality observations, and effective feedback techniques.
• Lead the observer team and committee meetings to conduct field observations, document trends, develop action plans, and communicate results to the project team.
• Review observation reports for completeness, quality, and actionable improvement opportunities.
• Continuously improve the CBL program based on field feedback, leading indicators, and project phase needs.
• Monitor program performance and provide regular updates on successes, gaps, and recommended corrective actions to committee and Project leadership.
• Partner with field leadership and the Project ESH Manager to address CBL priorities, barriers, and emerging risk trends.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with craft observers, supervision, and ESH team members.
• Facilitate CBL committee meetings to resolve issues and drive actions using observation data and CBL requirements.
• Complete CBL data entry and develop reports to support trend analysis and leadership engagement.
• Maintain accurate CBL records, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with project requirements.

Job Summary

The Craft-Based Leadership Coordinator manages the project's behavior-based ESH Program, leveraging field observations and timely, constructive feedback from trained craft observers to strengthen safe work practices through a continuous improvement committee, innovation and project-wide initiatives to sustain desired behaviors. The CBL Program reinforces courageous leadership by empowering craft professionals to take ownership of ESH performance in their work areas. This role applies practical Behavior Based scientific principles and expertise to plan, execute, and continuously improve ESH activities across all phases of the project, and reports to the ESH Services Manager. #LI-AE2

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in social or Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Behavior Analysis or a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant Behavior based safety experience; or Associate's degree (or equivalent) with 6+ years; OR 8+ years of relevant Behavior based experience in an industrial or construction setting.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to research, interpret, and apply organizational requirements in regard to Craft Based Leadership program and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and coaching in the field and in committees with craft and staff professionals.
• Proficient computer skills for presentations, data management, and report development.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify barriers in CBL program success and implement practical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the project organization.
• Ability to plan and coordinate work requiring independent judgment and sound professional experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in a field environment under varying weather conditions.
• Ability to support multiple shifts, as required, and perform a wide range of field-based tasks.
