Job summary

KIPP Baltimore is seeking a Coverage Specialist to support daily classroom coverage and ensure instructional continuity. You will access plans in Google Classrooms, meet with teachers to review agendas, deliver instruction, and save student work for absent teachers.

You will communicate with parents as needed, monitor hallways, assist with transitions, attend planning and content meetings, and participate in summer professional development to stay aligned with school expectations and student

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 30 college credits or an associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong relationships with students and families are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Access coverage plans on Google Classrooms and review agendas with teachers.
  • Deliver instruction as outlined by teacher plans; save and return student work to absent teachers.
  • Communicate with parents when necessary for feedback; support transitions in hallways and during lunch/recess.
  • Observe classrooms, attend planning and content meetings, and plan with mentor teachers.
  • Monitor halls, support common spaces, and assist with arrival/dismissal duties.
  • Participate in summer PD sessions and attend content and team meetings as instructed.

  • Follow school wide expectations for management and behavior to maintain a safe and affirming student culture.
  • Deliver instruction, as outlined by teacher plans
  • Collect and save student work to return to the absent teacher
  • Communicate with parents when necessary, for positive and critical feedback
  • Support timely transitions by monitoring students in the hallways and walking classes to and from lunch/recess
  • On days when the Coverage Specialist is not covering:
  • Observe in Classrooms
  • Attend planning meetings
  • Attend content meetings
  • Plan with mentor teachers
  • Monitor halls; support common spaces, support lunch/recess and arrival/dismissal

Additional Information

Compensation is $19.53/hour with a full benefits package.
