Job summary

Hawai`i State Judiciary seeks a Court Bailiff II (Lautenberg) to serve as the court officer providing courtroom services to the judge and maintaining order during proceedings.

The position requires a high school diploma, three years of general experience and one year of specialized bailiff experience in a statewide court system. A valid driver’s license and Lautenberg firearms eligibility are mandatory.

Qualifications

• High school graduation is required; substitutions allowed with relevant study or experience as described.
• Three years of general experience involving reading/comprehension, writing simple reports, and interacting with people.
• One year of progressively responsible bailiff experience in a statewide court system.
• Successful study in a Baccalaureate program may substitute for general experience (15 credit hours = 6 months) up to three years.
• A current and valid driver's license is required.
• Applicants must be eligible to possess firearms under Lautenberg requirements (no misdemeanor/felony domestic violence conviction).

Responsibilities

• Provide courtroom services to the judge and maintain order in the courtroom.
• Attend to jurors during deliberations and assist with juror needs.
• Serve notices of court actions and perform other duties as required.
