Job summary

The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, MO seeks an experienced Interior Designer and Space Planner to lead complex renovations and space reconfigurations for court facilities.

You will translate requirements into AutoCAD drawings, elevations, furniture layouts, and finish schedules, working with judges and court executives. Requires five years of specialized interior design experience, a degree in interior design/architecture, and advanced AutoCAD skills.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in commercial interior design, space planning, move coordination, and furniture/EQ specification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture; OR an associate degree with two extra years of specialized experience (seven years total).
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to present design options to judges, court executives, external consultants, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Leads interior design phase for complex facility renovations, chambers and administrative space reconfigurations, courtroom modernizations, and events.
  • Advises judicial officers and court executives on style, finish, and layout of furniture, fabrics, window coverings, and acoustics within budget and policy constraints.
  • Reviews architectural plans, construction docs, submittals, and vendor drawings to ensure compliance with judiciary policies, codes, and accessibility standards.
  • Manages interior furnishings funding requests, budgets, and procurement via GSA schedules and local vendors; negotiates pricing and drafts POs.
  • Coordinates with GSA, architects, contractors, security, and vendors to schedule deliveries, oversee installations, and supervise moves.
  • Prepares project budgets and reports on timelines and funding requirements for court approvals.
  • Coordinates with Circuit Custodial Officer to maintain master furniture inventory and finish standards libraries.
  • Performs other facility and project management duties as assigned.
