Vallarta Supermarkets in California is seeking a friendly Courtesy Clerk to provide fast, accurate bagging at the check stand, assist customers, and keep carts organized. You’ll help customers find products and maintain store cleanliness.

This full-time front-end position requires English proficiency, a positive attitude, and availability for afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. Vallarta's team values service, integrity, and teamwork in a lively retail environment.

About the Role

The Courtesy Clerk provides excellent customer service at the check stand by bagging groceries quickly and carefully, assistingcustomers with carry-out, and helping them locateproducts. Courtesy Clerks also collect shopping carts, maintaincleanliness in the store and parking lot, and perform custodial duties to keep facilities safe, clean, and welcoming for customers.

Smile and greet all customers and team members while using Vallarta's six steps of extraordinary service.

Bag groceries according to Vallarta's procedures and customer requests.

Assistcustomers with carry-out service and locatingproducts in the store.

Performaccurateprice checks asrequested.

Check and secure items at the bottom of shopping carts when trained.

Perform 'go-backs,'promptly returning perishable and non-perishable items to shelves.

Safely gather shopping carts using reflectivevestandrope.

Assistwith spills, clean-ups, restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal (if trained).

Clean store perimeters, including cart corrals, parking lot, sidewalks, and receivingdock.

Monitor andreport building maintenance needs or safety hazards.

Keep janitorial room organized and stocked with approved supplies (if trained).

Alwaysmaintainhigh housekeeping and safety standards.

Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times.

Abide by all store rules, company policies, and Employee Handbook.

Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or misconduct to management.

Performadditionalduties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk constantly (6-8+ hours/day).

Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally (e.g., dog food bags).

Heaviest itemrequiredto carry: 40 lbs., up to 40 feet.

Operate manual pallet jacks safely (buddy systemrequiredfor pallets).

Work near equipment/machinery and on uneven ground.

Exposure todust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
