Vallarta Supermarkets is hiring a Courtesy Clerk at our California store. You will provide fast, friendly service at the check stand, bag groceries, assist customers with carry-out, and help locate products.

We value a positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work in a busy retail setting. You must be able to read and understand English and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. This full-time position offers benefits and opportunities to grow with a community-focused grocer.

Responsibilities

• Smile and greet all customers and team members while using Vallarta’s six steps of extraordinary service.
• Bag groceries according to Vallarta’s procedures and customer requests.
• Assist customers with carry-out service and locating products in the store.
• Perform accurate price checks as requested.
• Return perishable and non-perishable items to shelves (go-backs).
• Safely gather shopping carts and maintain cleanliness in store and parking lot.
• Assist with spills, cleaning, and trash removal as trained.
• Keep the store perimeter clean and report maintenance needs.

About the Role

The Courtesy Clerk provides excellent customer service at the check stand by bagging groceries quickly and carefully,assistingcustomers with carry-out, and helping themlocateproducts. Courtesy Clerks also collect shopping carts,maintaincleanliness in the store and parking lot, and perform custodial duties to keep facilities safe, clean, andwelcoming forcustomers.

• Perform 'go-backs,'promptly returning perishable and non-perishable items to shelves.

• Safely gather shopping carts using reflectivevestandrope.

• Assistwith spills, clean-ups, restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal (if trained).

• Clean store perimeters, including cart corrals, parking lot, sidewalks, and receivingdock.

• Monitor andreportbuilding maintenance needs or safety hazards.

• Keep janitorial room organized and stocked with approved supplies (if trained).

• Alwaysmaintainhigh housekeeping and safety standards.

• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times.

• Abide by all store rules, company policies, and Employee Handbook.

• Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or misconduct to management.

• Performadditionalduties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).

• Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

• Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally (e.g., dog food bags).

• Heaviest itemrequiredto carry: 40 lbs., up to 40 feet.

• Operate manual pallet jacks safely (buddy systemrequiredfor pallets).

• Work near equipment/machinery and on uneven ground.

• Exposure todust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
