In this role, you'll package purchases, assist customers, maintain the store, and lend a hand wherever you are needed.If you enjoy staying active, love helping people, and take pride in a store that looks and feels great, we'd love to have you on our team.**What You'll Do**No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:* Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going out of your way to make every visit a great one* Package customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation* Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout your shift* Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom, and sweep and mop floors as needed* Clean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable* Stock, face, and rotate merchandise, clean shelves, understand shelf tags, and know the location of merchandise in the store and backroom* Pull product forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance* Check prices on products as needed* Maintain front end supplies including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items* Help train new courtesy clerks* Deliver product to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines* Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed* Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment* Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned* Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines* Report to work when scheduled and on time**Your Skills**To be successful, you'll need to be able to:* Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables* Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately* Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing* Work effectively as part of a team to keep the store clean and customers happy**Reporting Relationships****Accountable and Reports to:** Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Service Managers**Education and Experience*** No education or experience requirements; we will provide all the training you need to succeed**Physical Requirements*** Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas* Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation* Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment* Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards* Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties**Working Environment**This role keeps you active throughout the store and surrounding exterior areas. You will have regular exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, dirt, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
