The State of Delaware is seeking a Supervisory Court Security Officer to oversee court security teams and enforce courtroom policies. This role involves protecting state property, staff, and visitors across court facilities, with authority to arrest and use security equipment as needed.

Responsibilities include supervising security staff, coordinating with law enforcement, conducting safety inspections, and maintaining detailed records of proceedings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science or related field.
• Two years of security experience providing protective services.
• One year of experience ensuring compliance with courtroom safety laws, rules, and procedures.
• One year of experience in courtroom procedures (seating, swearing in witnesses, admitting and marking evidence).
• One year of experience in narrative report writing.
• Coursework or work experience in staff supervision, including lead worker duties.

Responsabilités

• Enforces safety and security in courtrooms and property per policies; uses defensive tactics and equipment as needed.
• Observes behavior to de-escalate incidents; responds to emergencies and coordinates with law enforcement.
• Inspects courtrooms and facilities for weapons; searches entrants and secures evidence as needed.
• Operates CCTV, paging systems, audio/visual equipment, metal detectors, and other security tech.
• Directs court proceedings; coordinates with court personnel about attendance and ADA accommodations.
• Completes training and recertification in defensive tactics, tasers, and OC spray.
• Maintains records of proceedings and events for the court.
