The Macon-Bibb County Government is seeking a Court Security Officer to provide security at the Bibb County Courthouse. The role includes screening employees, visitors, and personal items with security equipment, and monitoring access and alarms to maintain a safe courthouse environment.

Responsibilities also include coordinating with deputies, evacuating during emergencies, and ensuring orderly re-entry after incidents.

Formación

  • High School Diploma or GED required; minimum of three (3) years of security experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in screening people and items using security equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Responsabilidades

  • Screen courthouse employees, visitors, and personal items with x-ray, magnetometer, hand-held detector and pat-downs.
  • Maintain courthouse security by conducting building and perimeter checks.
  • Monitor cameras in the control room and manage door locks as needed.
  • Check and reset door alarms and respond to alarms promptly.
  • Provide directions and assistance to the public and visitors.

The Court Security Officer is responsible for providing security at the Bibb County Courthouse.

  • Screens courthouse employees, visitors, and their personal items and packages using an x-ray machine, magnetometer, hand-held detector, and physical hand frisk.
  • Maintains the security of the courthouse facility by conducting security checks in the building, and outside perimeter checks.
  • Maintains security of the courthouse facility by monitoring cameras and computer monitors in control room; locks and unlocks doors as needed.
  • Checks and resets alarms on doors.
  • Provides directions and assistance to the general public.
  • Evacuates the building in case of a fire alarm or bomb threat; guards entrances until threat is ended; re-screens all visitors and employees before re-entering courthouse.
  • Answers and announces panic alarms in offices, courtrooms, or judges' chambers.
  • Assists Deputy Sheriff with transporting inmates taken into custody.
  • Prepares door access cards/badges for customers (employees, attorneys, law clerks).

The Court Security Officer should possess, at a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of security experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Ability to meet and maintain training requirements set forth by the Georgia Peace Officers' Standards and Training Council, and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
  • Must be fingerprinted, complete a polygraph test, and pass a background investigation.

The Court Security Officer must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts:

  • Knowledge of the procedures of security operations.
  • Skill in mathematics and simple accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security of private or confidential information.
  • Ability to work effectively with m embers of all levels within the organization and public.
  • Ability to show good judgment, consistency, timeliness and respect in decision making.
  • Ability to achieve results on a timely basis.
