Job summary

The Curry County, NM Court is seeking a Court Deputy to help maintain court security and protect lives and property of residents. This role involves coordinating prisoner security during extraditions and transports for court appearances.

Hours may vary, including evenings and weekends to fit court schedules. Minimum qualifications include a HS diploma or GED, 19+ years old, valid NM driver’s license with limited violations, and firearm qualification. Bilinguals preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of courtroom security experience preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be nineteen (19) years of age or older.
• Ability to write intelligible and complete reports and use good judgment.
• English reading/writing; basic Spanish preferred.
• Able to work independently and exercise discretion.
• Vision 20/20 and color normal vision.
• Firearm qualification with handgun and shotgun (80%+).
• Valid NM driver’s license; obtain NM license within six months.
• No domestic violence, misdemeanors or felonies; no DWI in past five years.
• Ability to perform essential duties and work with listed equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain court security and protect lives and property.

• Interact with judges, attorneys, court staff and attendees.
• May work evenings and weekends to accommodate court schedules.
• Work environment varies from courtrooms to transport vehicles.
