Job description

• Capture and preserve a verbatim record of court proceedings
• Read back testimony upon request
• Prepare transcripts and court orders according to Rules of Court, State Statutes, legal rules, and policies
• Maintain accurate and complete files and records
• Stay aware of rules, statutes, and policy changes
• Serve as a confidential assistant to the appointing authority or Judge
• Perform other court-related and confidential duties as directed
• Work Tuesdays and Thursdays plus one additional day
• Work primarily in Dakota County, with some travel throughout the First Judicial District

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Graduation from a court reporting school approved by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) within the past two years; or
• Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) designation from the NCRA or equivalent certification from another state or territory of the United States or another professional court reporter association; or
• Two years of proficient professional stenographic reporter experience and, within one month of hire, demonstration of accuracy alongside a stenographic court reporter; or
• Obtain RPR designation from the NCRA within two years of hire and, pending receipt, demonstrate accuracy alongside a stenographic court reporter within one month of hire
• Ability to provide RealTime or willingness to work toward providing RealTime is preferred
• Cover letter and resume required
• Satisfactory criminal background check required as a condition of employment
