Job summary

Hilo, Hawaii—Hawai`i State Judiciary seeks a Court Reporter II to take verbatim records of civil, criminal, and Grand Jury proceedings and to prepare certified transcripts for official records.

The position requires graduation from high school, demonstrated stenography speeds, and a Hawaii CSR certificate (RPR accepted). New salary rate effective July 1, 2026, with additional compensation for transcript preparation under Hawaii law.

Qualifications

• Education: high school graduation; substitution allowed for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Stenographic requirement: 225 words per minute in Q&A, 200 wpm in charges, 180 wpm in literary.
• CSR certification: Hawaii CSR certificate or RPR accepted.

Responsibilities

• Takes verbatim records of civil, criminal, and Grand Jury court proceedings; transcribes and certifies transcripts.
• Certifies typewritten transcripts and performs other duties as required.
