Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government seeks a Court Clerk-level professional to provide in and out of court support for the Muscogee County Superior & State Civil and Criminal proceedings. The role coordinates case intake, oversees filing of court documents, and ensures timely, compliant processing of cases in the three highest level courts.

Responsibilities include attending hearings, coordinating courtroom activities with judges and attorneys, recording verdicts, and preparing court orders.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general legal terminology and required record-keeping procedures.
  • Ability to analyze information and data and to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work after-hours on-call and out-of-town.
  • Sufficient experience to understand basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates case intake activities and oversees processing of all superior court criminal court cases.
  • Attends Superior & State Civil and Criminal hearings and coordinates courtroom activities with judges, attorneys and other participants.
  • Strikes civil and criminal juries; records all jury and court directives; responds to inquiries about court policies and case status.
  • Reviews documents and court files to ensure readiness for hearings, trials, and judgments; prepares court orders for signature.
