City of Cleveland is seeking a Court Interpreter II (Spanish) to provide interpretation in court proceedings and related services. The role requires handling simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation while upholding professional conduct and accuracy.
Responsibilities include training, maintaining records, translating court materials, and collaborating on translations with the Court. Candidates should have bilingual capability and knowledge of legal terminology.
Under supervision, Court Interpreters provide a variety of language services on an assigned basis for Limited English Proficient individuals doing business with the court. Incumbents perform duties as interpreters in cases, court functions, and court ancillary services which may include, but are not limited to, arraignments, preliminary hearings, trials, and probation appointments. Appointees also perform translations and perform administrative duties as required.

Credentialed by the Supreme Court of Ohio or the ability to obtain reciprocity if credentialed by another state through the Consortium of the National Center for State Courts. Must maintain the requirements regarding continuing interpreter education (CIE) credit hours. High School Diploma is required. A degree in a related field is preferred. Minimum of two years Court-related/legal or related experience preferred. Basic and working knowledge of legal and medical terminology in both English and Spanish.
