Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Navy training instructor to develop, deliver, and evaluate Aegis Combat Systems training for Dahlgren sailors. You will lead curriculum maintenance, write learning objectives, and supervise lab and classroom sessions to ensure mission readiness. You will apply your U.S.

Navy Aegis expertise, conduct performance assessments, and tailor courses to evolving doctrine. A Secret clearance and at least three years in a Navy training environment are required to mentor

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
3+ years as a maintenance/operator supervisor teaching system tasks
1+ year as Navy Training Environment instructor including curriculum maintenance
Advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems capabilities and limitations
Knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering and operational doctrine
Ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training
Technical knowledge of UYQ-70 LAN and related equipment

Job description

Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors supporting the Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Virginia
Conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training
Train CG/DDG sailors in preventive and corrective maintenance for the UYQ-70 Local Area Network and associated equipment
Train personnel in alignment, adjustment, configuration, removal, replacement, diagnostic testing, and system validation of UYQ-70 LAN equipment
Provide subject matter expertise for curriculum development supporting ATRC courses and AEGIS-related technician courses
Deliver dynamic teaching, training, and officer-level assessment concerning U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems capabilities and limitations
Review and analyze Aegis Combat System engineering capabilities, limitations, and operational/tactical doctrine
Assess sailors’ compliance with approved maintenance and operational procedures and provide formal performance appraisals and improvement recommendations
Observe and assess contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per NAVEDTRA 135
Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides
Support course reviews and curriculum updates; conduct training gap analysis and provide course‑improvement recommendations
Document training by individual area/watch station and generate formal written assessments
Develop, test, maintain, and deliver moderately complex Aegis training programs and related materials
Establish and review course content and objectives
Conduct training sessions and develop criteria for evaluating training effectiveness
Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness
Maintain current knowledge of relevant assigned technologies

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
At least three (3) years of experience with the required system as either a maintenance technician supervisor or operator supervisor, with responsibility for teaching applicable system or function tasks to others in a journeyman-level training environment
At least one (1) year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, including curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and instructional results, and counseling students on academic learning problems
Advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat Systems Capabilities and Limitations
Knowledge of U.S. Navy Aegis Combat System Engineering Capabilities and Limitations and U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical doctrine
Ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training
Technical knowledge of UYQ-70 LAN, ADS and CND UYQ-70 Consoles, X-STAB monitors, Bridge Routers, Fiber Optic Data Distribution, ETHERNET interfaces, File Servers, Application Processors, HP-UX, and HP-RT
