Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Courier for UMMC Transportation Services in Batavia, NY. This per diem, as-needed position covers pick-up and delivery of supplies, pharmacy items, bank bags, mail and hospital equipment to units and off-sites.

Responsibilities include maintaining clean, safe work areas, complying with DOT regulations, and supporting Food & Nutrition Services inventory and meal assembly as needed. Valid NYS driver’s license required.

Job Title: Courier - UMMC, Transportation Services (Per Diem, As Needed)Department: Transportation ServicesLocation: UMMC - North Street Campus - 127 North Street, Batavia, NY 14020Hours Per Week: Per Diem, As NeededSchedule: Rotating; Days 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Mid 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM; Evening 4:00 PM - 9:00 PMSUMMARY:Responsible for pick up and deliveries. Responsible for receiving and storage of all delivered supplies. Material Management Only: Responsible for timely deliveries of pharmacy supplies, bank bags, mail, med-surge supplies, hospital equipment and special non-stock orders.RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains work areas in a safe, sanitary and orderly manner, demonstrating proper equipment use and sanitation techniquesObeys all applicable laws and regulations dealing with operation of vehicle and DOT regulations.Reports all incidents, damage, accidents immediately to manager or supervisor.Food & Nutrition Services:Assist in inventory control by maintaining organization and sanitation of coolers, freezers, and dry storage and by identifying shortages.Assembles and retrieves meals as required while maintaining food customer relations.Responsible for accurately filling and delivering supplies to units as required.Package bulk food supplies according to menu requirement and deliver to satellite facilities while, utilizing proper food handling practices in a timely, organized manner.Responsible for receiving all deliveries and storing supplies using appropriate safety practices as well as proper rotation of all supplies (first in, first out).Responsible for safe operation of food service equipment and utilizing personal protective equipment according to MSDS sheets.Materials Management:Ensures US Mail is picked up daily and delivered to the mail room for RRH’s departments/affiliates.Facilitates delivery requests in regards to pharmaceutical supplies and or drugs.Handle and delivers medical equipment for clinical technologies to the off sites.Manages cash bags and receipts for the Finance departments as well as Off-sites and Living Centers as well as cashing checks and making deposits as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of ageValid Driver's LicensePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible.Ability to read and comprehend directions.Knowledge of all locals roads and major roads and major landmarks in the surrounding area.High school graduate or equivalent.Ability to read and write English and communicate effectively.2 to 3 years of prior courier/delivery strongly preferredPrevious food service experience preferredKnowledge of food safety and sanitation preferredEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Drive - These positions involve frequent driving across varied routes, with regular loading and unloading of materials and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. or more. Employees must safely enter and exit vehicles, push or pull carts, and navigate ramps, stairs, and uneven surfaces. Strong visual and auditory acuity are essential for safe vehicle operation and task performance. Emotional and cognitive requirements include sustained attention, managing time-sensitive deliveries, and responding to schedule changes.
