Job summary

Arapahoe Libraries is seeking a Courier and Logistics Specialist to support safe, timely movement of library materials, furniture, equipment, and other resources across the District. This hands-on role combines driving, safety, customer service, and operational support to keep libraries connected and operational.

You will work with staff across multiple locations on deliveries, facility projects, and district initiatives, adapting to changing priorities while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

  • 18 months of delivery driver, courier, logistics, warehouse, fleet, or related operational experience; experience driving large vans or box trucks preferred.
  • Pass internal driving and procedure assessment before operating assigned fleet vehicles.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to safely operate delivery vehicles, including vans and box trucks with automatic transmission, after required training and authorization.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends, based on district needs.
  • Ability to work independently, follow routes and procedures, manage time, use sound judgment, and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic technology skills for Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams, and the ability to learn and apply new job-related technologies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff, supervisors, vendors, partners, and community contacts.
  • Ability to safely lift, load, unload, sort, stage, push, pull, and transport library materials, bins, carts, supplies, furniture, equipment, and other approved items.
  • Preferred: previous experience loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and transporting regular and bulky materials.
  • Experience operating lift gates, dollies, carts, straps, pallet jacks, and related delivery or warehouse equipment.

From delivery routes and fleet support to facility projects and district-wide initiatives,you'llplayan important rolein keeping operations running smoothly and supporting access to library services across the community.


About the Role

The Courier and Logistics Specialist supports all library locations by transporting materials, equipment, supplies, and operational resources throughout theDistrict. This is an active, hands-on role that combines driving, safety, customer service, and operational support.
No two days are exactly the same.While daily scheduled routes are at the heart of this role, you'll also have opportunities to support the Library District beyond routine deliveries. In addition to scheduled routes, you may deliver event supplies and equipment, support facility projects and sustainability initiatives, assist with public programs, or contribute to other district priorities. Working with staff across multiple locations, you'll play an important role in keeping the Library District connected-ensuring materials, resources, and equipment move safely, efficiently, and accurately where they're needed most.


Key Responsibilities

District Courier, Logistics, and Operational Support


  • Operate Library District delivery vehicles to transport library materials, furniture, equipment, supplies, recyclables, and other district assets.

  • Execute scheduled delivery routes and approved service requests throughout theDistrict.

  • Load, unload, sort, stage, secure, and organize materials to support safe handling andaccuratedelivery.

  • Support the Intelligent Material Management System (IMMS) and related materials movement processes.

  • Support sustainability initiatives through transportation, recycling, reuse, and responsible disposition of materials and equipment.

  • Support branch operations, public programs, community events, facility projects, and district initiatives through reliable transportation services.

  • Use work order, ticketing, and tracking systems to coordinate and document deliveries and operational requests.

  • Communicate route changes, delivery issues, safety concerns, and operational impacts promptly and professionally.

  • Provide service-focused communication with staff, vendors, partners, and community contacts.

  • Adapt to changing priorities, route conditions, staffing needs, weather conditions, and operational requests.


Fleet Support, Vehicle Readiness, and Safety


  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance concerns.

  • Assistwith preventative maintenance, fueling, scheduled repairs, and routine service activities.

  • Safely use approved equipment to load, secure, transport, and unload materials and supplies.

  • Follow traffic laws, fleet procedures, safety protocols, and facility access requirements.

  • Exercise sound judgment while driving and completing deliveries in varying conditions.

  • Maintain fuel, mileage, inspection, delivery, maintenance, and workload documentation.

  • Identifyopportunities to improve route efficiency, vehicle readiness, communication, and service reliability.

  • Experience operating lift gates, dollies, carts, straps, pallet jacks, and related delivery or warehouse equipment.

  • Experience supporting multi-site operations, public sector operations, libraries,logistics, facilities, customer service, or fleet support.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple delivery schedules whilemaintainingaccuracy, safe handling, and attention to detail.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills when interacting with staff across multiple locations.
