Pre-licensed clinicians encouraged to apply — LPC, LSW, and AMFT candidates receive free supervision toward full licensure.
Counseling Works is an established group practice with offices in Naperville, Frankfort, Lemont, and Shorewood. We've spent years building something we're proud of: clinical excellence, real collaboration, and a deep commitment to the communities we serve. We take care of our clinicians because when you feel supported, your clients do too.
We're growing, and we're looking for a therapist who brings more than credentials. The right person for this role is comfortable sitting with conflict. You're skilled at helping couples slow down and actually hear each other, and you understand that the relationship itself is your client. Whether you draw from Gottman, EFT, Imago, or attachment-based approaches, you bring a framework to your work and the flexibility to meet each couple where they are.
This is a fee-for-service role. Therapists earn a percentage of collected session revenue, based on experience and licensure level.
You earn 42-52%+ of collected session revenue depending on licensure — roughly $53-61 per session pre-licensed, $63+ per session fully licensed. At a full-time caseload of ~25 sessions per week, a pre-licensed clinician earns approximately $61,000-70,000 and a fully licensed clinician approximately $72,000+. Actual earnings depend on session volume and licensure, and we're glad to walk through the math when we meet.
You'll carry a caseload of couples and individuals, with the clinical autonomy to work in the modalities you know best. You'll:
We're upfront about the evening and weekend requirement because couples work happens when couples are both available. If those shifts don't fit your life right now, we'd rather tell you here than three interviews in.
License: Active Illinois license, or actively in pursuit — LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, AMFT, PsyD, or PhD
Education: Master's degree (MEd, MSW, or MA)
Experience: At least 1 year of direct experience counseling couples — dating, engaged, married, and non-traditional. Prior private practice experience is a plus but not required.
Preferred: Gottman Method training, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago, or AAMFT certification. Experience with attachment theory or trauma is a strong plus.
Systems: Comfortable with Google Suite and TherapyNotes, or willing to learn.
