Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, is hiring married couples as Full-time Flex Houseparents. Couples reside in on-campus student homes, supervising a group of 8–13 students and supporting academic, emotional, and social development.

The role begins with nine consecutive days on duty, then three days off, with transition to a placed houseparent over time. Salary per person is $46,917, totaling around $180,000 per couple including housing, meals, and utilities; comprehensive benefits are

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth
• Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
• Both spouses must be age 27 or older
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol while on duty
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
• Comfort leading students in daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; staff serve as role models

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship
• Manage household routines and student schedules
• Administer medications and monitor student wellness
• Drive students to activities and plan developmental/recreational activities
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting
