Qualifications

  • Experience leading audits and managing internal control frameworks in multinationals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial accounting, reporting, and controllership activities for the country.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-, quarter-, and year-end closings.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
  • Drive compliance with local statutory, tax, regulatory, and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Manage treasury operations, cash flow planning, working capital, and liquidity.
  • Establish internal controls, governance, and risk management processes.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify cost optimization opportunities, and drive profitability.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the country finance team to build a high-performance organization.

An ambitious transformation journey that started in 2016 saw Olam’s Group Finance team move from being merely a finance controller to becoming co-strategists in executing Olam’s Strategic Re-organisation plan. The Group Finance team is divided into three units – Business Unit Finance, Country Finance, and Specialist Finance. At Olam, Finance has structured its deliverables and goals to fall under four key roles:

  • Controller – minimises controllable losses using robust controls and compliance.
  • Performance Officer – co-owns budget plan and performance by being predictive of outcomes.
  • Co-strategist – co-partners Business Units on strategic planning and execution, handles mergers and acquisitions transactions.
  • Value Manager – drives value add to business bottom line through specialist functions.

Finance identified strengthening the team as a key enabler for transformation and formed the Finance Team Management Committee (FTMC). The committee focuses efforts on team development and drives curated learning and development. Cross-functional collaboration and digitilisation form the underlying fabric of our transformation agenda – intricately woven into everything the Finance Group does.

Job Description

The Country Finance Controller in Olam Agri is responsible for leading the finance function for the country, ensuring robust financial governance, statutory compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, tax compliance, and business partnering. The role provides strategic financial insights to support business growth, operational efficiency, and effective decision-making while maintaining strong internal controls and risk management frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all financial accounting, reporting, and controllership activities for the country.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis.
  • Drive compliance with local statutory, tax, regulatory, and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Manage treasury operations, cash flow planning, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and drive profitability improvements.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the country finance team to build a high-performance finance organization.
Experience
  • 12-18 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, and controllership roles.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, taxation, and compliance.
  • Proven track record of partnering with business leaders and driving financial performance.
  • Experience managing audits, regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks.
  • Prior experience in multinational organizations, manufacturing, agriculture, commodities, or FMCG sectors is preferred.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams across diverse business environments.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Finance is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
