Job summary

Alsco Uniforms in Billings, MT is seeking a non-exempt Textile Sorter to support a busy industrial laundry operation.

You will open bags of soiled textiles, sort by type, size and color, count items, and enter data into sorting systems; you must lift up to 50 pounds and work safely. We offer a full benefits package and a drug-free workplace.

Qualifications

• Must perform physical tasks for the full shift, including standing and walking.
• Lifts up to 50 pounds and handles textiles in varied conditions.
• Works in an industrial laundry setting with temperature variations, humidity, lint and dust.
• Must be able to work in a team and adapt to daily operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Open bags of soiled textiles and sort by type, size, and color.
• Count textiles manually or electronically and enter into sorting systems.
• Identify damaged textiles and record findings in sorting systems.
• Follow efficiency and safety standards for the position.
• Wear and comply with PPE policies as required.

Classification: Non-exempt

You Will:

• Open bag of soiled textiles, then sort them by type, size and color.
• Count textiles manually or electronically and transfer them into sorting systems.
• Identify damaged or abused textiles and record into sorting systems.
• Comply with Spindle Job Classification efficiency and safety standards for the position.
• Follow policy and procedures related to wearing assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Will function in a team environment.

• Flexibility to perform different tasks within the team based on daily operational needs.

Work Environment and Requirements:

• You will perform physical tasks throughout the work shift. These tasks include standing and walking for extended periods; reach overhead; push and pull carts or bins; grasp and handle textiles; lift up to 50 pounds; and stoop or bend.
• Work in production areas of an industrial laundry facility may include exposure to temperature variations, humidity, odors, lint, and dust.
• Physical Requirements consist of being able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.
• Soiled textiles come from a variety of customers such as restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and shops.
