Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years of experience in a retail or customer service environment, with exposure to industrial sales or a related field considered a plus.
• Ability to operate basic math and computer tools (POS systems).
• Comfortable communicating with a diverse customer base.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and use PPE to maintain a secure workplace.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners.
• Complete paperwork including coding, costing, and pricing accurately.
• Advise customers on tools, hardware, and materials for their projects; demonstrate equipment use.
• Process orders and assist with deposits reconciliation.
• Communicate costs and delivery details via phone, email, or in person.
• Support branch growth through outbound call strategies.
• Coordinate merchandise transfers between locations to meet customer needs.
• Maintain a welcoming showroom and well-stocked shelves.
• Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.

We’re looking for a Counter Sales Associate to join our team in a role that balances high-energy customer interaction with meaningful operational support. If you enjoy solving problems and building relationships in a dynamic, industrial environment, we want to meet you!

A Counter Sales Associate will partner with our customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies. You will serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed to successfully complete their projects. By demonstrating equipment use and sharing insights on product quality, you help our customers pioneer new solutions in their own work.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment to ensure a secure environment for everyone.
• Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long-term relationships.
• Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
• Partners with customers to identify the best tools and procedures for their specific tasks; demonstrates equipment use to build customer confidence.
• Manages order entry and processes transactions; assists the team with the reconciliation of deposits.
• Coordinates via phone, e-mail, and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful information on costs and delivery.
• Contributes to an outgoing call strategy to support the continued growth and success of the branch.
• Coordinates the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive manner with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
• Stocks shelves and maintains welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent customer experience.
• Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a retail or customer service environment, with exposure to industrial sales or a related field considered a plus.
• Forklift experience required, and full training will be provided upon hire.
• Must be able to operate in a drug‑free workplace.
• Capable of moving items up to 50 pounds regularly, using material handling equipment or assistance as needed.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting.
• Comfortable using basic math and computer tools, including POS systems (training provided).
• Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
• Attention to detail in handling transactions.
• Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.

Preferred Qualifications

• A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies is a wonderful asset.
• Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office Applications.
• A valid driver's license is helpful for this role.
• A detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
• The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
