Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Counselor for the Behavioral Health Department. The role involves psychosocial assessments, education and therapeutic interventions to support patients and families.

The ideal candidate holds LCPC/LMSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT licenses, has post-license experience preferred, and must obtain Basic Life Support. Work hours include days, evenings and weekends with 10-hour shifts; PRN or part-time.

Qualifications

  • Must hold LCPC, LMSW, LCSW, LPC or LMFT licensure.
  • Two years post-license experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required at hire.
  • Part-time/PRN daytime shift with flexibility to cover evenings/weekends.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide education and therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and coordinate care with physicians and hospital staff.
  • Provide group and family therapy and case management with community providers.
  • Document clinical interactions in required timeframe and standards.
  • Assess patient’s treatment needs and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Work cooperatively with the care team to meet emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and families.

HOURS: The ideal candidate will be flexible to support the department during days, evenings and / or weekends. The department enjoys 10-hour shifts.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Two years of post-license experience in related mental health setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups
  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients
  • Assess patient’s treatment needs and provides appropriate interventions, including but not limited to the following:
  • a) group and family therapy
  • b) risk assessment
  • c) chemical dependency groups
  • d) case management with community providers
  • e) facilitating and documenting a viable discharge plan
  • Complete psychosocial assessment and consult with physicians and hospital staff regarding patient and family psychological issues through formal and/or informal multidisciplinary conferences and treatment planning. May be called to facilitate the Treatment Planning process
  • Work cooperatively with immediate team and other hospital caregivers to meet the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and/or their family/caregivers
  • Complete clinical documentation in required timeframe and within set standards
