Job summary

Waypoint Recovery Center in Cameron, SC seeks a Counselor II (LPC/LISW-CP/LMFT) to provide treatment, counseling, and family support for recovery from addictions and mental health disorders. The onsite role includes assessments, treatment planning, group and individual sessions, and crisis intervention.

Required licensure, CPR and de-escalation training, and a background in social services or counseling with relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, addictions, mental health or related field with 3+ years post-bachelor experience OR master’s degree with 1+ year post-master experience.
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Current licensure or certifications as social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client assessments to identify history, current presentation, problem areas and clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
  • Assess ongoing chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
  • Prepare and carry out initial treatment planning and progress reviews with required documentation.
  • Lead group counseling, individual or family sessions and document as assigned.
  • Provide client and family education regarding substance abuse and psychiatric issues.
  • Ensure all documentation regarding client care is completed timely and clearly.
  • Provide crisis intervention and counseling to clients as needed.
  • Plan for and complete required aftercare documentation for assigned clients.
  • Liaise with insurance carriers and between referral sources and clients.
  • Perform case management duties ensuring individualized quality care.
  • Conduct educational workshops within the hospital and in the community.
  • Serve as liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
  • Evaluate client needs to determine appropriate level of care and referrals as needed.

About the Job
  • Candidate must hold one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Social Worker - Clinical Practice (LISW-CP), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Purpose Statement

The Counselor Two provides treatment, counseling, and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental health disorders, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.

Roles and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for conducting client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, and ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
  • Responsible for conducting ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
  • Prepares and carries out client initial treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
  • Leads assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
  • Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
  • Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
  • Provides crisis intervention and counseling to clients, as needed.
  • Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
  • Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
  • Acts as a liaison between referral sources and clients.
  • Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
  • Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
  • Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
  • Evaluates the needs of the client to determine the appropriate level of care and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements

Requires bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field with 3+ years of post-Bachelor degree professional experience in the addictions or counseling field OR master’s degree in social services, addictions, mental health or closely related health services field with 1+ years of post-Masters degree professional experience in the addictions, therapy or counseling field Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

Must have current and valid licensure or certifications a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency. CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Work Location

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.
