Job summary

The Farley Center at Summit BHC in Virginia seeks a Counselor One to provide treatment and support to clients recovering from addictions and mental health disorders. You will conduct assessments, participate in treatment planning, and deliver group, individual, or family counseling while coordinating with families and community resources.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in social services or related field and state licensure/certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required; training provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Participates in and prepares client treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
• Conducts assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
• Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed, and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
• Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
• Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
