Job summary

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is seeking a professional to help individuals with disabilities achieve competitive employment through counseling, assessments, and IPE planning.

The role emphasizes coordinating services, managing caseloads, and collaborating with employers, vendors, and the medical community to support meaningful work outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or CSPD-qualifying field.
  • Ability to counsel and advise individuals toward vocational goals via IPE.
  • Strong communication to build relationships with consumers, vendors, employers, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment.
  • Coordinate services including vocational counseling, guidance, and direct job placement.
  • Conduct and coordinate communication assessments, vocational assessments, career exploration, and job preparation instruction; design an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).

Minimum And Additional Requirements
  • Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Psychology or other degree qualifying under CSPD guidelines.
  • Ability to counsel and advise students and youth with various physical mental disabilities toward a vocational goal through Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE) and consideration of the consumers' interest, abilities and needs.
  • Should be able to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, vendors, employers, the medical community, and coworkers.
  • Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
