Job summary

Harboroaks is seeking a full-time counselor to provide treatment and support to patients recovering from substance use, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems. You will conduct group and family sessions, document care, and coordinate with referral sources.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (bachelor's preferred in social/health services), counseling field experience or practicum, and valid CPR/de-escalation/first aid certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in social or health services field preferred.
• Experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum through education or certification process required.
• Licensure or certification for counseling, as required by the state; OR state license or certification eligible within timeframe designated by the facility.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
• Completion of ongoing education and training as required by the state and accrediting body.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group and/or family sessions under supervision, and document as required.

• May be responsible for initial assessments and follow-up assessments for patients.
• May prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
• Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and clearly.
• May act as a liaison between referral sources and patients.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
• May provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Evaluate the need of the patient and determine referrals to other programs.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
