Full‑time (Mon‑Fri, 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)

Position: Counselor – Treatment Center

Position Overview

Pinnacle Treatment Centers provides comprehensive addiction treatment services. As a Counselor, you will support patients throughout their recovery journey, providing individualized treatment plans, counseling, and referral services.

Key Responsibilities

• Orient new patients to program policies and patients’ rights.
• Conduct intakes, discharge planning, initial assessments, and treatment plans within regulatory guidelines.
• Engage patients in assessment, planning, and intervention to foster ownership of recovery.
• Administer biopsychosocial assessment covering addictions, medical/mental health history, socioeconomic, legal factors.
• Use patients’ Strengths, Needs, Ability, Preferences (SNAP) to develop individualized plans.
• Determine clinical necessity of counseling services based on assessments.
• Monitor changes in patient status, identify relapse indicators, implement early interventions.
• Comply with Medical Q.A and Clinical Risk Management Policies, including high‑risk screening (BAM‑R, C‑SSRS, GAD‑7, PHQ‑9).
• Provide professional counseling (individual, group) and referrals to specialized services, community resources, and support groups.
• Utilize therapeutic techniques (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc.) and maintain documentation per federal, state, CARF, and Pinnacle standards.
• Participate in team meetings, training, research data collection, urine sample observation, and community outreach.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in relevant field with required registration/credentials for counseling (Kern County may require bachelor’s or high school diploma/GED with 75% certification education).

Preferred

• Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Counselor Level Compensation

• Counselor I: $20–$21 / hour
• Counselor II: $21–$24 / hour
• Counselor III: $24–$27 / hour (certified) and $27–$30 / hour (licensed)

Additional Information

Qualifications for higher levels include: associate degree or majority of approved counselor certification courses, certificate from a recognized certifying organization, 2–5 years of experience or Master level. Licensure/ certification required immediately upon employment.
