Counsel - Global Commercial Operations


What you will do


Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for counseling Amgen’s Global Commercial Operations clients on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues concerning promotion, sales, patient support programs, contracting, education and scientific exchange regarding biopharmaceutical products that are subject to oversight and regulation by several entities of the U.S. Federal government.


The primary responsibilities of this Counsel position will include:



  • Advising and counseling on fraud and abuse matters relating to commercial activities involving members of the healthcare community (including payers, pharmacies, providers and patient and professional advocacy groups and associations), with emphasis on Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act

  • Assessing proposed and ongoing patient support programs for legal risk

  • Analyzing, reviewing and approving promotional, educational and patient support programs and materials

  • Advising key stakeholders on legal, regulatory and policy developments to ensure that legal support is adapted to a rapidly changing environment

  • Providing guidance on proposed sales and marketing strategies

  • Advising on interconnected issues of law and policy relating to government health care programs

  • Coordinating legal support by contributing as a member of cross-functional team and interacting with business and law department colleagues on various matters

Basic Qualifications:



  • J.D. degree or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction


and



  • two (2) years of experience practicing law


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 4+ years of corporate, government and/or law firm experience.

  • Proven superior legal skills, including excellent oral and written communication, legal analysis, drafting and negotiation skills

  • Ability to lead and influence others

  • Strong client service, business counseling, and a problem-solving focus

  • Ability to manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Superior academic achievement

  • Experience with health care law (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, Medicare/Medicaid/340B) is a plus.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
