Job summary

Warsaw Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Warsaw, NC is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide comprehensive therapy under an OTR. The role encompasses patient assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and ensuring orders are in place for continued care.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, participate in scheduling and billing, and supervise junior staff as needed, while maintaining compliance with facility policies and confidentiality

Qualifications

• Graduate with BA or Associate degree in Occupational Therapy recognized by the AOTA.
• Current OT license/registration in the state (as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under supervision of an OTR per state guidelines.
• Assist with identifying appropriate patients and refer to rehab.
• Document daily participation and progress with co-signature of the OTR.
• Ensure MD orders for treatments, re-certifications and discharges.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as indicated and act as rehab team liaison.
• Coordinate scheduling, billing logs and patient caseload coverage as needed.
• Supervise junior staff or students and maintain professional relationships.

Qualifications:

• 1. Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Occupational Therapy that is recognized by the AOTA.
• 2. Holds current license and/or registration in the state (as applicable).

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under the supervision of an OTR and according to state guidelines.

• Assist OT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient's daily participation and progress on progress note in an accurate and timely fashion, and obtain the co-signature of the OTR.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, re-certifications and discharges.
• Assist with other documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings when indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing logs and bill patients ethically and accurately for occupational therapy services rendered.
• Cover other therapists' patient caseload during absence as necessary.
• Supervise junior COTA staff members or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationship with co-workers, facility staff, patients and patient families.
• Provide in-service education regarding patient care or occupational therapy services to rehab staff, facility staff, hospitals and/or community as needed.
• Comply with all facility policies and procedures.
• Comply with patient confidentiality and Federal Resident Rights.
• Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours, and project a professional image at all times.
• Adhere to productivity requirements, complete productivity reports and submit in a timely manner.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating and communicating in a professional manner so as to foster positive relations with customers, clients, co-workers and managers
• Perform all other duties assigned by the department supervisor, lead therapist or regional manager.
• Comply with all Facility HR policies re: lunch, sick and time off notification.
• Adhere to any and all other Facility written and oral policies and procedures.
